Newsletter - December Week Three

Dear Parents and Carers

Wow! What a week! Our penultimate week before the Christmas Break has certainly been packed - and there’s still more to come.

Nursery and Reception Nativity
On Monday the youngest members of our school performed the Nativity story for their families. It was a beautiful morning and the acting and singing was so good that it was hard to remember that some of these children have only been coming to school for 3 months and even the eldest are only just 5. Children, you were all the stars of the show! A huge thank you to the children’s families for supporting them and building their confidence so that they could perform on such a big stage and a massive thank you to the Early Years staff who made sure the whole thing was such a success..

Chester Zoo
Sticking with enormous achievements taking over 200 children on a trip to the zoo is right up there! The excitement from the children is still evident and the learning that they were able to do whilst having such a good time was invaluable. None of this would have been possible without the effort of both staff and parent volunteers. Thank you to the staff, especially those who rearranged their working week so that we could go on the trip and thank you to our parent helpers - it couldn’t have happened without you. Finally an enormous thank you to our children for being their usual polite, friendly and enthusiastic selves making the day a joy for everyone involved.

Friarswood’s Got Talent
On Wednesday the children performed their acts for their peers and today the finalists were able to perform again before the winners were announced. The scoring was so tight that there were 3 overall winning acts:

Nora and Connie in Year 4 who performed their own version of Invincible. Nora played the piano and sang whilst Connie performed a dance to the music. Parts of the lyrics had even been cleverly adapted to be about Friarswood!

Arthur in Year 5 who sang the Christmas classic Everybody’s Waiting for the Man with the Bag. He delivered it with huge maturity and a Rat Pack style, very Frank Sinatra!

Ayva-Lilly in Year 6 who sang the Meghan Trainor hit Dear Future Husband and got the whole audience clapping and dancing along like we were at a concert!

Well done to all of the winners, the finalists and all of the children who were brave enough to take part - everyone was a winner in my eyes.

Chocolate Bingo
A lovely evening was had by all on Tuesday at our annual Christmas Chocolate Bingo. Thank you to the PTA members and staff for organising and running the evening. Now that all of the Christmas PTA events are completed we will shortly be able to let you know a grand total for our fundraising activities this term.

Selection Boxes
Today each child will come home with a selection box. This has been possible due to the generous donation of 19,500 selection boxes by The Co-op so that every child attending a Trust school will receive a treat this Christmas.

Fees
As the term comes to a close please take a moment to check any balances outstanding for lunches or Care Club. If you want to speak to anyone about payment please contact me or Mrs Dean

Parking
This unfortunately remains a problem. Our neighbours have been informed that if a drive is blocked preventing them from leaving that the police consider this to be anti-social behaviour and they will deal with any reports that are made. No one wants to go down this route however if parking doesn’t become more considerate then our neighbours may have to.

INSET Day
A reminder that school is closed to children next Friday the 22nd. Small and Tall will also be closed.

Dates for the last week

Church visit for carols Monday 18th December

Early Years / KS1 Theatre Trip Tuesday 19th

KS1 Christmas Production Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st

After such a busy week have a lovely weekend with plenty of rest to prepare for the final week!
