Headteacher’s Welcome

Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Co-op Academy Friarswood and our Friarswood Family.

I’m very proud to be the Headteacher of this wonderful school.  Co-op Academy Friarswood is an inclusive, loving and caring primary school based in the Westlands in Newcastle-under-Lyme.  We have a dedicated and enthusiastic team of staff who support children and families at such an important time in their lives.  By providing a rich and broad set of opportunities in a safe and happy environment, children are able to develop every aspect of their character not just the academic side.

The responsibility for creating a happy, welcoming and safe school rests with those of us who work here, supported by our children and families. We’ve created an amazing place to learn and work and do this through our STAR values (Safe, Trust, Achieve and Resilience)  along with Co-op Values and our ‘Ways of Being’.

Succeed together: we’re better when we work together to succeed, helping others along the way

Do what matters most: we do what is right and what is best for everyone

Be yourself always: it’s ok to be yourself and develop your wonderful personality, showing respect for yourself and others

Show you care: we listen, we help and we care

These values help children to develop positive and co-operative relationships, help children to develop their own skills of resilience and self belief and above all help them to develop into enthusiastic learners giving them every chance to fulfil their aspirations.

We treat everyone as unique, special and valued members of our school. We believe in equal opportunities for all no matter what their  characteristics are. Everybody is equal and everybody has a right to learn in a safe, happy and supportive environment.

At Co-op Academy Friarswood, we really do believe in ‘working together to be the best’.

Kindest regards

Mrs L Wilmer

We would love for you to join our Friarswood Family.

If you’d like your child to join us in Reception for the forthcoming year then you can apply for a place through Staffordshire County Council here.

Currently we’re accepting children in all year groups. If you’re thinking of sending your child to our school then please do get in touch and we can arrange a visit. We’ll give you all the forms you need to fill in and talk you through the process.  If this happens to be part way through the school year, we can arrange for settling in sessions for your child to help them with the transition.
