Friarswood choir adds elegance and prestige to key event

On Friday 29 November 2024, our school choir performed at the opening of the Co-op Academies Trust Recognition Awards, in front of almost 300 people.

The special ceremony, which took place at the historic King’s Hall in Stoke-on-Trent, brought together staff from 38 different schools for an evening of celebration, inspiration and togetherness. Attendees came from Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Merseyside and of course, from Staffordshire.

The Friarswood choir includes almost 50 children from different classes, led by our amazing choir leader Mrs Elkin.

We are especially pleased that Mrs Elkin attended the awards as she was unable to attend last year’s event when she herself won one. Mrs Elkin and the choir have worked incredibly hard over many months, and put together a fantastic medley of Bob Marley songs that brought a huge amount of joy to the occasion and set the tone wonderfully for the whole event.

“I was moved to tears by how beautiful and joyous the performance was. I’m so grateful to the children and their families for supporting the event and I hope everyone enjoyed it. It’s so important at these events to remember that children are at the heart of everything we do, and my colleagues really valued the shining examples of talent and energy that stood on stage before them on Friday in their Friarswood uniform.”
