Thursday 5th of March was World Book Day. A day to celebrate reading and the enjoyment a good book can bring. This year we dressed up ready for an adventure, as many stories can take us on. The children had a great day dressing up and taking part in activities throughout the school day. We had literacy scavenger hunts, extreme reading, designing new front covers for their favourite book and plenty more! A great day had by all. #DoWhatMattersMost #BeYourselfAlways 

On Wednesday, the winners from our school in this year's GoIT competition to create an idea to help the environment had the opportunity to take their idea and compete with other primary schools in our trust, which were held in Manchester. The boys who represented us this year were so clear and confident when presenting to the other school and to 4 judges. They answered questions from the judges and seemed to really enjoy the whole experience. Their idea was to clean up the canal water with an app to join and a robot which would be programmed to go on missions.  It was a wonderful, well-thought out plan. We are so proud to say that although the judges chose another idea to take the overall win, we took second place as runner up. Well done to our Year 6 team! #SucceedTogether #DoWhatMattersMost 

Our school choir has been very busy this Christmas! Not only have they taken part in a Christmas carol service at St Giles' Church with the Delian singers, but they also had a trip to our local hospital. They sang beautifully and certainly made a lot of people having to visit the hospital smile. This was part of the NHS charity and so many visitors were donating whilst listening to our choir in the buckets around the foyer.

The organiser of this said: "We have had so many donations made whilst your choir were singing. They were wonderful. Thank you."

Over the last week, we have invited parents from our key stage 2 classes to join their children in one of their lessons. It was so wonderful to see how many parents were able to come and to see their enjoyment of the lesson they took part in. 

In Year 6, it was sewing needles to the ready! Year 6 started a Design and Technology unit using a cross stitch pattern that they had created. This will then be added to a cushion to complete. 

In Year 5, there was a very exciting science experiment. The children needed to make a structure that would hold a weight by just using straws and sticky tac. There were a lot of great ideas and teamwork to make this happen. #SucceedTogether 

In year 4, our parents had a Forest school lesson. The children and parents took part in various outdoor activities that even included making a camp fire and making their own smores! They looked amazing! We hope that everyone who came, had a great time! 

In Year 3, our parents and children researched the different types of mountains and how they are formed. They all made a poster to show their findings and drew lots of diagrams to help to explain. They all worked super hard! Well done Year 3 #DoWhatMattersMost 

The past week, our Key Stage 1 classes have invited their parents in to come and join them in their learning. It was a great way of sharing a lesson with our families.

Year 2 did a Design and Technology lesson, using a design of a puppet that they had created to make a template. They then cut out the material and sewed it together. It was a very busy lesson with plenty of challenges! Our parents and children were amazing, and the end results were fantastic. 

Year 1 had a phonics and maths masterclass, sharing how we learn things in Year 1. Our children were brilliant, showing their grown-ups the ropes. We really hope that the celebration of learning was enjoyable for all. I know we loved having our families join us.
