Attendance/Absence
Coming to school everyday allows your child to get the best possible education.
Children who attend 100% are 5 times more likely to work at, or above, the expected standard.
We’ll work with you, to help your child attend as much as they can. We’ve got a great attendance, please get in touch if you’re having difficulties. To encourage and celebrate our children for their great attendance we run regular fun days and other rewards.
Our school session times are:
Nursery
8:45am to 11:45am
KS1
8:40am to 3:20pm. Classroom doors open at 8:45am so that children can come straight into school.
KS2
8:40am to 3:20pm. There is a member of staff on duty at the front entrance from 8:45am.
Morning break
10:30 – 10:45am
Lunchtimes
KS1 – 11:45 – 1:50pm
KS2 – 12:00 – 1:00pm
Afternoon break
There is an afternoon break for 10 minutes at a suitable time.
If your child is ill or won’t be able to attend school
If a child is absent, parents should contact the school on the first day of the absence via telephone stating the reason. The school will then decide whether to authorise the absence. If authorisation were to be refused, for instance if a child was kept off school for a birthday, then the parents would be informed. Parents should continue to contact the school daily until the child has returned to school.
If your child has any allergies or health problems, please tell us so that we can be prepared. If at a later date your child develops any problems be sure to inform us.
We’d ask that all contact numbers are given to Mrs Dean and this can be done by filling in and returning all of the school forms within this pack. If your child is ill or has an accident, we may need to phone you at work or home during the school day so if your contact number changes for any reason please inform the school.
Important advice on illness
Chickenpox
Chickenpox is a highly contagious viral infection common in children. Usually the infection starts with a raised temperature, a general feeling of malaise and a sudden appearance of an itchy rash. The rash starts as a flat reddish spot and becomes raised and blistered.
A minimum of five days from the onset of the rash, after the blisters have dried and the child feels well.
Vomiting and diarrhoea
For vomiting and diarrhoea type illnesses, the exclusion period from school is 48 hours from the time symptoms have subsided.
